Founded in 2001, the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the care of individuals living with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). With over 4,100 individual members and 35 country members, ECCO stands as the largest global platform for IBD specialists.
ECCO’s mission is to advance IBD care through the development of international guidelines, education, and cutting-edge research. The organization plays a central role in creating evidence-based clinical guidelines, promoting ongoing education for healthcare professionals, and supporting high-quality research in both basic and clinical IBD sciences.
We are proud to collaborate with a broad network of medical societies, patient organizations, and industry partners to advocate for IBD patients and foster global collaboration in the fight against IBD.
The Governing Board of ECCO is responsible for overseeing the organization’s mission and objectives, ensuring they are pursued with the highest ethical standards and integrity. The Board provides strategic leadership, guiding the development and growth of ECCO, fostering innovation, and managing financial oversight. It also supervises the operational activities of all ECCO Boards, Committees, and the ECCO Office to ensure the effective implementation of the organization’s initiatives and the achievement of its goals.
